Despite the best efforts of Mother Nature to dampen the event, the rain was very limited and no play was suspended. Over 80 teams from across the US competed over three days in three different formats; best ball, scramble and quota.

In the Stardust Flight (flight 1), the team of Lindsay Dolamore and Brian Johnson, both from Florida, solidified their second round lead with a stellar 56 in the quota competition to end the event with a 3-day total of 186. The Atlanta, GA team of Scott Hootselle and Rob Mitchell finished second with a 203, followed by Rick Waggoner and Rich Mack of Minnesota with a total of 204.

Floridians also captured the title in the Sahara Flight (flight 2). Marcellus Osceola (South Florida) and Bryan Veith (Sarasota/Bradenton) came from behind on Sunday to card a total of 209, one stroke better than Michael Gabbard of South Florida and Russell Trombly of Kentucky. The team of Joby Manners and Jack Savage from Louisville, Kentucky finished third with a total of 213.

In the Tropicana Flight (flight 3), Greg Dobrowski of Detriot, MI and Ken Malecki of Tampa, FL captured the title with a total of 212. Second place went to another South Florida team, Giuseppe Calderone and Ron Warren (214). Third place, decided by a scorecard playoff, went to Joe Craft and Scott Mann of Louisville, KY with a total of 221.

Having nice weather during the winter down in Florida again proved advantageous for the winners of the Sands Flight (flight 4). On Sunday, the Jacksonville team of Dwayne Cribbs and Sam Andrews came from 11 strokes back to tie for the lead at 215. After a scorecard playoff, Cribbs/Andrews edged out Dan Hatch and Matt McDevitt from San Diego, CA for the title. Third place went to Atlanta, GA's John Holt and Stan Otto with a tournament total of 221.

We also had our first hole-in-one of the 2005 season. Bill Peters from Cincinnati, OH aced the par-3 9th hole on the Desert Course. Hopefully it won't be the last this year.

Overall the Duel in the Desert II proved to be even more successful than last year. The Tour would like to thank all who participated as well as their guests and significant others. We would also like to thank Nevada Beverage, Primm Valley Golf Club and all those who helped make this event one of the premiere events on Tour each year.

Next year's Duel will sure to be even better (it never rains in Vegas), so mark your calendar for February 2006.
